Seal house, give your dog dignity back

(Letter to the Editor re: The battle between mice and men , reprinted from The Mountain News)

I'm sure many homeowners can relate to Mr. Cripps column on his battle with the local "mouse mob". These animals, like other urban wildlife such as raccoons, squirrels, skunks, birds and bats, have adapted very well to living in and around subdivisions. We provide them with a warm, dry shelter and often a ready-supply of tasty food (or garbage to us).

Mr. Cripps also noted the disease, structural damage and rapid birth rates associated with mice. But there is a viable alternative to trapping them, which involves sealing your house and preventing new mouse families from moving in.

This is a proven humane alternative to the vicious circle of trapping, removal and inevitable re-population.

You don't end up with dead mouse carcasses in the walls and your old dog might get a little dignity back without having to watch the mice eat her food.
