Bill
Dowd, President
Bill Dowd founded the company in
1989, recognizing the need for a humane approach
to wildlife control services. He steered the
company from its humble beginnings in Hamilton
with one service truck to a national provider
with 35 employees and 20 service vehicles. Bill is
committed to growing the business into new
markets, expanding the service offerings as well
as ensuring exceptional customer service. Bill
has an Honours Bachelor of Physical Education
from Brock University and had a noteworthy
hockey career. From 1980 to 1983, he played for
the Ontario Hockey League with the Ottawa 67’s and then from 1983 to 1985 with
the New York Islanders minor leagues. From 1986
to 1989, Bill played for the Brock University
Badgers Varsity Hockey Club. He currently
coaches minor hockey in the Hamilton area.
Barry Dowd, Vice President,
Operations and Finance
Barry earned his BBA from
Wilfrid Laurier in 1992 and became a Chartered
Accountant in 1994. Shortly after becoming a CA
Barry co-founded Dowd & Connick Chartered
Accountants, growing it into a successful
regional accounting firm in the Hamilton area
before selling it to one of his partners in
1999. Barry became the CEO of the Hamilton/
Burlington SPCA in 2000, leading the $5 million
organization through a corporate and financial
reorganization and information systems overhaul
from 2000 until his departure in 2004. Most
recently, Barry was the President of IBI Corp a
Microsoft Gold Certified Partner specializing in
the implementation of Microsoft Business
Solutions.
Marc
Chubb, Vice President, Ottawa/Montreal
Operations
Marc was hired in 1993 to open
our newest branch of Humane Wildlife Control. In
January 1994, Marc was promoted to General
Manager and was promoted again in 2001 to Vice
President after another successful opening of
our new Montreal branch. His employment
background includes four years as a social
worker, working with special needs children. For
five years following that, he was an apprentice
carpenter working on commercial and residential
renovations.
Corey Lewis, Field
Operations Manager
Corey has been in the wildlife
control industry for more than seven years. He
has served on the Board of Environment Hamilton
and as a Natural Environment Advisor for the
Region of Niagara’s Water Quality Protection
Strategy. He was a recipient of the Dr. Victor Cecilioni “Environmentalist of the Year
Award” in 2001 and the “National Wildlife
Technician of the Year” Award in 2001/2002.
He is also a member of the Hamilton Naturalists'
Club and the Ontario Field Ornithologists. Corey has a diploma
in Fish & Wildlife Technology.
Garnet Lasby
Garnet earned his BA and Master
of Accounting degrees from the University of
Waterloo before becoming a Chartered Accountant
in 1996. He practiced insolvency consulting in
Toronto and Calgary until joining Massilly North
America, a French multi-national manufacturer of
packaging products in 1998. During his tenure as
CFO and then President of Massilly, the company
experienced profitable, exponential growth.
Garnet is currently the CEO of Integrated
Business Intelligence Corp., which offers
financial and business process applications to
Canadian companies using a new generation of
integrated business solutions software. Garnet
is the past Chair of the Hamilton SPCA, and the
Treasurer of the Ontario SPCA.
